Carolyn Adams
Carolyn Adams, originally from Houston, TX has lived in Beaverton, OR since 2017, and falls deeper in love with her new home state every day. A late-life college student who wishes higher education was more life-enrichment than job-training, she received her undergrad degree in Humanities from the University of Houston in 2016. From childhood, her passion has been reading and writing poetry, and she discovered collage art about 20 years ago. College courses in drawing and painting opened up even more avenues of artistic expression that she’s joyfully pursued. Oregon’s profound beauty has nurtured her love of amateur photography as well. Her poetry, photography and collage art have been published in journals such as Wend Poetry, Cascadia Rising Review, Steam Ticket, Caveat Lector, VoiceCatcher, Common Ground Review, Hawaii Pacific Review, Willawaw Journal, and Visitant, as well as anthologies such as Enchantment of the Ordinary (Mutabilis Press), and Shout (Not A Pipe Publishing), among others. She has authored four chapbooks, with one being a collection of her collage art. She has been nominated for a Pushcart prize, as well as for Best of the Net, and was a finalist for 2013 Houston Poet Laureate. Her art has been exhibited in community galleries in Houston, TX, and Beaverton, OR. Select pieces of her collage art are featured in #YourArtMoment, a program of the Beaverton Arts Council. She is currently a staff editor for Mojave River Review, and is on the Executive Board of the Oregon Poetry Association.
